My Oscar Rant

Oscars, Oscars, Oscars. Where to begin? I think that the biggest snub of the night was in the Costume Design category. La Vie en Rose won for Best Costume Design, but I believe that Across the Universe should have won. Maybe I think that because I am one of the biggest fans of the movie. I happen to think that “Across the Universe” is one of the best movies in the entire world. Notice that I said “one of the” best. I just really loved the movie, and everything about it was great. Another snub that I believe is so wrong is in the category of Best Original Song. Enchanted should have won!!! Yeah, “Falling Slowly” was a good song, but I only think it was OK!!! How the hell did all 3 songs from Enchanted lose to that sad excuse for an Oscar winning song?!?!? Any one of the songs from the movie “Enchanted” could have easily trumped “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once”.

Ok. I am just too mad that I don’t even want to talk about it anymore, so I think that I’m just going to sign off. Goodbye for now!

Yet another uninteresting title for a Blog

So I’ve finally started rehearsals for Breaking Up is Hard to Do. I already love it, and I love the script. It is one of those “musicals based on songs”. What do I mean by that? I mean that it’s one of those musicals that is based off of songs from a famous artist? Still confused??? I’ll give you a couple of other examples of musicals based on songs. Movin’ Out (Billy Joel), Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash), Hot Feet (Earth, Wind, and Fire), Jersey Boys (), Good Vibrations (The Beach Boys), and All Shook Up (Elvis Presley). There might be more, I just forgot their names. Now who’s music is Breaking Up is Hard to Do based off of? That would be the music of Neil Sedaka. I was talking to my friend Tyler the other night, and I was telling him how there were several songs that I had heard of before, but never knew who sang them. When I got the script and I saw that these songs were in the show, I was so shocked and surprised. What are some of these songs? Well let me tell you, my friend: Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Breaking Up is Hard to Do, Stupid Cupid, and there are several others, I just have a temporary mind blank. Do you ever get those? Boy do I EVER!!! I get them a lot on tests, and I hate it. That’s when you need it most. Yeah, there are other times that I get it, but it seems like that is. Anyway… Enough of this academic crap.

Right now, I am watching a movie. I just finished watching Legally Blonde, but now, that’s over. I just decided to put on another movie. It’s called “just My Luck”. Have you seen it? I think it’s a good movie, but I am not watching it for the whole Lindsay Lohan thing. Not even Chris Pine. I’m watching it for McFly, aka one of the most AMAZING bands in the WHOLE WORLD!!! They’re a British band. Have you heard of them? I think they’re really awesome, and you should definitely check them out when you get the chance. Speaking of me loving McFly… I am going to England this Summer for a May Option for school, and I plan to buy up every McFly CD at a store that I don’t already have. Is that too predictable?

I can't think of an interesting title for this blog

Want to know something funny? I woke up this morning and started to get ready for class by taking a shower. I go to take my shower, and when I come back and try to get into my room, and I realize that my door is locked. So, in short, I am locked out of my room in nothing but my towel. How did I get back into my room, you ask? I had to call campus safety, and they came and let me into my room. Imagine how embarrassing it was for me when the guy came to let me into my room. I was late to class, but luckily, I was only late by about 5 minutes, so nothing major. I am actually writing this blog from Biology right now, but don’t worry. I am taking notes too. Oh the glories of bringing a laptop to class!

Now, on to the good stuff. I am so excited, and cannot wait for my Spring Break trip in about a week and a half. Yes, it is the first week of March. Isn’t that EARLY??? Anyway. I am so excited because I am going on a 5 night cruise with my dad to Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. Yeah, that’s all well and good, but that’s not why I am so excited for the trip. This cruise ship has an ICE SKATING RINK on it. I am going to go ice-skating on that rink as much as I can. They have skates there for people to use, but I am going to try to get my dad to bring my skates with me so that I can skate with my own, instead of theirs. I’ll use their skates if I have to. I am so excited about that. My father’s birthday falls on the cruise. I have talked to my mom, and I am working with her to give him a few surprises. I have already paid for it, but I am having a cake delivered to our table at dinner on his birthday, March 4th. It was really cheap. Only $8!!! I have also talked to my mom about the possibility about surprising my dad with a shore excursion in one of the stops. He already has some idea about it because he wanted to know why I wanted to know if we had anything planned on some of the islands. He has no idea though about what we’re going to do. So let that be the surprise. I’m not actually all too sure what we’re going to do either. The one I wanted to do leaves too early. We won’t be fully docked by the time that it is supposed to start. After the cruise, I go home, and have a few days there before my break. I get to spend my birthday at home. On the night of my birthday, I told my mom that I wanted to go to a place called Dave and Buster’s. I have only been to that place like once, but I love it. And the time that I went there, all we did was play games. I want to go there to eat and to play games. I hear the food there is pretty good.

The day after my birthday, I am going to the Alhambra Dinner Theatre to see my friend Matt star in a production of the Steven Sondheim musical Company. I am so excited. I haven’t see him in a show since he was Curly in Oklahoma about two years ago. So, I think you can say, that this is LONG DUE!!! I am so excited about that. And you want to know something that I think is kind of funny/twilight zoney? His younger brother and I were born on THE SAME DAY. I’m not sure how old his brother is, but that would be so weird if we were born on the same day. Hopefully, when I see him, I can get him to sing Happy Birthday to me. I’m not going to force it. I am just going to try to drop little hints here and there. Sneaky, huh? Haha.

Until next time...

Reflections on Procrastination

Why am I such a big procrastinator? I swear... These days, it seems like it's almost all I do. I keep putting things off. I don't know why. Like right now, for instance. I have a test tomorrow (really today), in Math, and I am not studying for it. I just don't have the urge to do it right now. I now I'm not doing so hot in that class and that I need to study, but I just can't bring myself to do it. You know what I need? I need a kick in the ass to get me up, moving, and proactive about it.

If I don't start something soon, it's just going to keep on going and not get any better. I learned the hard way last week about what can hapen when you procrastinate, and even though I don't have homework, it still technically is procrastination.

I need to just get my mind off of it and just go to bed right now. At this moment, I just think that that is the best thing that I can do right now.

Blogging

I've been thinking about it a lot lately, well, really only since I started this blog earlier today, and I deffinitely thing that I am going to try to do one blog every day. Hey, if you're lucky, I may even try to do more than one blog a day. Even if nobody reads or comments this blog, I'm going to try to continue to do it, because I love using my computer, and I love talking about what sometimes may seem like the most random stuff.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"
- Eleanor Roosevelt

One of my favorites...

Right now, I am watching one of my favorite movies, Gidget goes to Rome. I guess you could say that I am a sucker for old movies. I just love them. The Gidget movies are really great, and there are tons of other great ones too. But right now, I thought I'd blog about one of my other favorites. Broadway, and more specifically, some of my favorite Broadway actors.

Barrett Foa

Oh man. Where do you begin about this guy? He is absolutely talented, and I just really love him. He's been in some of my favorite broadway musicals like The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Avenue Q.

Richard H. Blake

Absolutely one of my most favorite Actors of all time (along with Christian Borle, of course). He has done tons and tons of shows, so many so, that I cannot keep track. Currently, he is starring as Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde the Musical. He also originated the role of Glen Gulia in the broadway musical The Wedding Singer. It's hard to believe that this is the same guy who used to be in the Babysitter's Club. That's when I first fell in love with him.

Christian Borle

Another very talented Broadway actor. Like RHB, he's done tons of shows too. The things that I remember him most for are Jimmy Smith in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Historian/Prince Herbert in Monty Python's Spamalot. You may have also seen him on TV in an Ebay Commercial, which is HILARIOUS. In fact, I'm going to post a video of it here on my blog so that you can see it.Here's the link, because I had a little trouble posting the video on here. http://youtube.com/watch?v=iiLdP-itBzc

Jared Gertner

One of the nicest and most talented guys you could ever meet. He made his Broadway debut in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as William Barfee. He actually used to be my old camp counselor. He is getting Barrett Foa to autograph a playbill for me (and he is going to too), and is also sending me one signed by the entire closing night cast. This just goes to show that you should always keep in touch with your old counselors. How did I get so lucky?

Sutton Foster

Only a picture is needed for this theater BOMBSHELL!!!

Blake Daniel

In his Broadway debut as Ernst in Spring Awakening, but I can already tell that he is destined to do great things.

Blake Bashoff

Another Spring Awakening Blake. This one plays Moritz in the show. He is amazing, but he has also done the TV show Lost. Do you remember him?

Laura Bell Bundy

Currently playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical on Broadway. She is crazy talented, and she also originated the role of Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray on Broadway.

My first Entry

Hey guys. This is my first entry on my new blog. I just started it today, and am actually really surprised that I didn't start it sooner.

Here I'll just write down my thoughts, however random they may be, and home that you can find some enjoyment from reading them.

This is just an introductory post, so let the real blogging begin!
